UPDATE: Woman threatens carjacking victim with alleged HIV needle at Roseville hospital

Amber Arlene Page

A woman who allegedly carjacked a man by threatening him with a purported HIV-infected needle led police on a wild chase early Saturday that ended in a Granite Bay neighborhood – and a slew of criminal charges.

Amber Arlene Page, 29, allegedly demanded a 71-year-old Citrus Heights man to give her his keys as the man was exiting his car at Kaiser Permanente in Roseville at about 1 a.m., Roseville Police said.

Page allegedly told the man, who was taking a friend to the hospital, that she would stab him with an HIV-infected needle if he didn’t comply, said Police Spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther, though no needle was seen nor was one eventually recovered.

Both victims got out of the car, and the suspect drove away in the 2006 Mazda sedan as the victims reported the incident to Kaiser security officers.

Gunther said hospital security staff followed the vehicle at a safe distance to keep police apprised of its location.

Officers spotted Page as she turned from East Roseville Parkway into a residential neighborhood in Granite Bay. Driving recklessly, Page drove onto a dead-end street and officers tried to block her in, Gunther said.

Page drove her vehicle out between two patrol cars, narrowly missing hitting them and continued to flee.

Roseville officers eventually were able to again box the car in and forcibly stop it in the 9800 block of Wesbourne Way in Granite Bay near Treelake Park.

The suspect got out of the car and, after a brief struggle with officers, was taken into custody at about 1:30 a.m.

Gunther said there was no evidence to suggest the suspect’s needle threat was legitimate.

“No weapons were found on her,” she said.

Westbourne Way resident Jodi Mazure said although she was not awakened by the noise of the police chase, some of her neighbors were aware of the early morning activity.

“We all were a bit surprised at what happened, but I’m not really worried. I think the woman (Page) was up in this area because she probably didn’t know the streets are dead ends,” Mazure said. “She got trapped. We’re all just glad no one was hurt and that there wasn’t any property damage.”

Mazure said because her home is close to the Treelake Storage facility and the Treelake Village Community Park, she is used to traffic on the neighborhood streets.

Page, who has no last known permanent address, was arrested on suspicion of carjacking, robbery, vehicle theft, making terrorist threats, assault with a deadly weapon, recklessly evading an officer, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

She is being held in the Placer County Jail on $75,000 bail.

If she gets convicted, Amber needs to be off the streets for a while. Let's assume, for the sake of argument that Amber was drunk when she did this. So what? She still needs some time to reflect.

If you check with Observer and grinunbarrett, she's probably innocent, it's somebody else's fault, and she just needs a group hug.

Oh, and according to ChuxxR, it's the cop's fault for chasing her. Bad cop, for being in the area, bad cop.

I'm failing to see why this entire article has anything to do with the "Auburn" Journal? Is she qualifies simply because she's in the Placer County Jail, then why don't you just write about every criminal that gets transferred or deposited there regardless of what city they commit their crime in.

not enough bags in the world................

The article says” The suspect got out of the car and, after a brief struggle” from the looks of her picture of course she would struggle getting out of small car how did she ever get in it in the first place

Hard to believe that this young female was a student at Skyridge Elementary School, boy oh boy did she take a wrong turn.

Stupid hurts.

So nobody knows why she would do this? drunk or not this is just STUPID. Threatening eldery people who were at the hospital her parents must be so proud.

I agree with Sawked, why is this in the Auburn Journal. There was a purse snatching at the Flour Garden Bakery on Elm st last week why diden't that make in the AJ?

Well this story actually made it to KOVR and KCRA so it is obviously news worthy. Plus this woman is a long time Auburn resident.

ewwwwww

its a shame

cause she is super hot

Whats sad is that she all on her own has made the path and choice of this life. Because 3 years ago she was a single mom, going to college and worked. She made a choice that "regular" life was just to much hard work!! My prayers are with her child to know there is another way.

no more boom-boom for this mama-san
