Roseville nightclub illegal; city says Cloud 9 doesn't have permit to dance
Police say Cloud 9 Restaurant and Ultra Lounge was just a little too footloose for its neighborhood. The popular Roseville hotspot was cited on Monday for operating as a nightclub without a permit – the third time it’s been hit with the violation this month. Police also served the establishment with the same violation Nov. 3 and 6, officials said. Cloud 9, at 963 Pleasant Grove Blvd. No. 100, sits within 500 feet of a residential area, city officials said. That makes it ineligible to operate as a club. Gunther said police had received complaints from residents that the restaurant was operating as a club, complete with everything that comes with it – dancing, bouncers, loud music, and cover charges. “They’re too close to a residential area,” Police Spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said. City officials warned Cloud 9 on Oct 21 it was in violation, and couldn’t have a dance permit at that location. “They continued to do so and have been issued a citation,” Gunther said. Representatives of Cloud 9 declined to comment. But on its Web site, the establishment boasts “multiroom premier lighting” “exotic scenery” and “world class bartenders.” Officials said the business was also cited for operating an outside patio without having the proper permitting. Late last year, the city also took action against another “ultra lounge,” when officials rescinded the dance permit of The Station on Orlando Boulevard. Officials said it violated numerous codes, including regularly exceeding occupancy limits and expanding its dance floor without authorization.
