Losing lifestyle thanks to ‘newbies’

I have lived in Granite Bay almost 37 years.

The newbies in our community say they moved here for the rural atmosphere. They tried to get control burns totally banned. What they did get, which is almost as good as a ban, is that burning is only allowed from the first to the 15th day of the month and only between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The newbies are not content with these very restrictive rules. They call in reports of smoke in some areas. The fire department is dispatched. These bogus calls take firemen and equipment away from their stations and could cause delay in a real emergency call.

I am just a regular person living here before there was a grocery store. I had to drive to town to shop.

My address has had three different zip codes and two town names. The oldies are losing our country lifestyles more and more each day. This is very sad.

So, you have been here since 1973? Let's see. You moved to an area that was a half hour drive from a large airport,20 minutes from down town Sacramento and next door to a large man made lake. Roseville square was here and just 8 miles away. Sunrise mall was opened and able to provide you with all of the modern conveniences you could use. One of the country's most important freeways was accessable by driving about five minutes away and your power was supplied by the states largest utility company. Doesn't exactly sound like "Little House on the Prarie" to me. Remember, an environmentalist is someone who lives in the woods. A developer is someone who wants to live in the woods. The "I've got mine-stay out" attitude won't help your situatuion. If you really want to isolate your self from any risk of contact with others, may I suggest buying a couple of hundred of cheap sandy acres in Nevada?

It's all of the bay area transplants. After all of the years of being able to ride dirt bikes, shoot guns, and build fires, they come in and want to eliminate all fun and out way of life.

Why is it that you most of "old school" residents think it's your right to foul up the air for other people? Nothing worse than some idiot burning on a beautiful spring day, causing everyone within a mile radius to have to close their house up.

LAME AND INCONSIDERATE!
