Roseville Press Tribune welcomes new publisher
Brehm Communications, the parent company of the Press Tribune, has added a publisher to lead the community newspaper. President William Brehm Jr. announced the promotion of Kelly Leibold as publisher of the Press Tribune, Loomis News and Placer Herald on Monday. “He’s worked for Gold Country Media for a number of years, so we know his capabilities,” Brehm said. “He was also an excellent publisher in the past and can help us strengthen our management team.” Leibold joined the Gold Country Media cluster as circulation director in April 2009. He was awarded Manager of the Year for the chain in 2011. “He will strengthen our management team not only in Roseville but in Gold Country Media,” Brehm said. “We’ve been impressed with what he’s been able to do for the group in the last three years, and that’s why we promoted him — proven leadership skills within our group.” Owned by Brehm Communications, Gold Country Media consists of the Roseville Press Tribune, Granite Bay View, Loomis News, Placer Herald, Lincoln News Messenger, Folsom Telegraph, El Dorado Hills Telegraph, Colfax Record and Auburn Journal. Leibold has spent the last 30 years in the newspaper industry. Leibold’s first job in print was as a paper boy delivering the Arizona Republic. After attending community college, Leibold joined the circulation department at the Scottsdale Daily Progress in 1982. He later worked for Lee Enterprises and Media News Group, where he was vice president of circulation for the Humboldt Group. He also served as publisher of the Woodland Daily Democrat from 2007-2008. “I’ve found that (newspapers) are very rewarding, not just for myself, but for the community you serve,” Leibold said. “I’m very excited to bring my resources and knowledge to the Roseville Press Tribune, Placer Herald, and Loomis News as the publisher to help continue their growth as solid community newspapers and information sources.” Leibold is married to wife Surina Leibold. The couple cares for Kelly’s brother, Surina’s aunt and their two children, ages 11 and 13. They reside in Granite Bay. Leibold, who played baseball in college, still enjoys swinging the bat at local cages. The couple also enjoys traveling, fishing and listening to live music, as Surina is a musician.
